Need to shop for a new gauge, not original. What is the standard size bolt and type of thread for the mounting in put off the water temperature capillary tube?

I'm pretty sure that the thread is 3/8" British Standard Pipe thread.
0.656 O.D. and 19 threads per inch with a 55 degree included angle.

Not that common these days!!!

Thank you, I have emailed Smiths in the UK as well. I was thinking it might be 1/2" too.

Just measured mine, got same outside diameter. Waiting to hear back from Wizard Cooling on this topic too, they made it.

I concur with Michael. Just measured mine and the major diameter of radiator fitting was a touch under .650" and minor diameter of the nut was just under .600". 18 tpi thread gauge was too coarse and 20 tpi was too fine, which pretty much means its 19tpi. Those numbers all match up to a 3/8" BSPP thread.

John, have you contacted Ahead4Healeys to find out about the "cap" they sell for the similar capillary tube fitting on the 6-cylinder cars that I posted the link to on the other forum?

I tried a couple uk retailers with no luck so I ended up ordering a pair of 3/8 bsp cap nuts off Amazon in brass. If they work and anyone wants the spare one let me know and I will send it to you.

Now, you tell me?!? The list of familiar suppliers that responded in the negative was long. Maybe they just weren't interested in looking. Idk but it was tough to find, Amazon via Chinese supplier made it appear.
