I want to install a cigar lighter in my car and it occurred to me that one may have been available as an option as the cars came with ash trays. Does anybody know if one was an option and if so where was it mounted and what type was it?

I have two BMC Approved Accessories Brochures from the 1950s. One is a copy and one original.

The copy is Publication No. H.5699, and I believe dates from 8/55, and does not list a lighter.

The original, Publication No. H.5770 which I believe dates from 2/58 does list an electric lighter (Cigarette Lighter), however it does not specify where and how it was mounted.

Not a lot of information, but a start. Good luck finding an original lighter.

On a side note, I recently acquired an electric vintage chrome suction mounted demister/defroster for my 100. Not practical, but a nice addition for car shows.
