do you think it's original Austin Healey?

Stefano,

Looks nice, but definitely an aftermarket upgrade, originals were stamped steel.

They were an aftermarket accessory back in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s and I believe offered by JC Whitney. You need a breather for the cover.

thanks Patrick you have been very precise and very helpful. Excuse my ignorance, but why would I need the breather? Now, however, I will check if it is present in mine, but I do not think so. Thanks again and greetings

I’ve never seen this style of valve cover without the breather cap and been told it came with one, but haven’t been able to fact check that. It is a combination breather/oil filler cap.

What is the added value of an additional breather when there is a direct connection to the last airfilter (see photo)?
Note that the other 2 airfilters have been removed at the time of the photo.

Eric,
If you haven't driven these cars then you may not be aware of the giant, oily mess the OEM system generates.
It's truly ridiculous and I got sick of it.
If anything it effects the performance of the engine by sucking that crap back into the carb.

I found this application in a stock car racing catalog. It made so much sense that I thought I
would try it on the Healey...and it works great.

Obviously it's not for everyone but it looks beautiful (and racey), it's completely functional and
there's no more oil all over the engine compartment...and did I say it looks beautiful?

Good luck,
Peter

Hello everyone, I wanted to tell you that in my 100 six the tube above the valve cover is connected to one of the carburetor filters ... all right?
Regards Stefano

That's right Stefano.
Most of the engines were set up in that configuration.
