As the world learned of Covid19 last February I insulated the underside of the cover and today, a year later, it is installed. Also installed the choke cables and heater cable to complete the heater work.

Today I replaced the clutch slave cylinder. I knew I had twisted the bleeder screw in half but did not realize just how cruddy the cylinder itself was. And I did take the wire wheel to the rod.

The heater has been improvised from stock which is not best. I installed a shut off for the hotter months in Paducah. Yes, the valve will control water flow downstream of the heater I.L.O. controlling it upstream. It works for me.

To bleed, I use a hose over the bleeder screw and the other end of the hose in a bottle with one inch of fresh fluid. Then work the clutch pedal until no bubbles. Same for brakes.

My son, John, provided an updated wiring plan that included a 5 gang aux fuse box and a 12 gang for the main fuse box. I repurposed the old fuse box, by removing the fuse area, as the portal for wiring to move safely between the cabin and the engine bay. I feel like the work will be far safer with modern fuses, separating fuses, and looks better, IMHO.

With all the dash work going on, this allows for a nearly empty area to paint.........after three unsuccessful attempts to keep the paint down.....it worked. I'll have a finished picture after it cures.

Thought I would include the wiring loom in the floorboard which you see laying atop my recently re-started train layout. BTW, my son will be advising on electrical work. I view this type of work as electricky.

With lots of helpful post from the Experience, and knowing that either a dash covering, or more expensively, a completely new dash pad were available, we decided on the $20 piece of automotive vinyl route. Bumper Bondo filled the really bad parts. Yes, I did a hack job of properly smoothing it. After sanding, I followed up with RTV gasket maker to smooth it out. And finally glued down. I will add the ask tray and demisters tomorrow. In deviation from the complete factory look I have wire wheeled them down to bare metal and cleared them.

I have decided to "update" the GT6 dash to what the factory could have done in 1970. I have matching oil pressure and volt meter gauges for the center dash. The smaller hole next to the vent hole is for the ignition switch on the r.h. dash. The rear defroster and interior light switches will be relocated somewhere else. Naturally, I still have urethane coating to apply.

I will not have to do any fiddling to get the heater controls to fit. Ditto the added gauges, they fit just within the metal dash opening.

Pretty Happy, thanks for the encouragement of "The Experience."

Old cable was split so a new one goes in. So what is the sink aerator for? I used it as a die to clean up the threads on the tailshaft. Yep, it did the trick.
I must say the cable will be none to long.

I'm hopping around a bit on this restoration so please bear with me. I decided to re veneer the dash and to update it with matching volt and oil pressure gauges as if they were "factory installed." The gauges will be up and toward their respective corners from the existing gauge openings. Yes, I'll move the warning lamps, interior and rear defroster switches to another location After some 30 pages of eBay I found one of each that matched the originals. Here's the concept, now I gotta do it.
