This is my first post on the forum so please be gentle smiling smiley

I'm about to bring my BJ8 up to Canada from the States. I have worked with a Customs Brokerage and have arranged transport to bring it North.
I was curious if there are other Canadians on the forum that have brought their Austin-Healeys across the border and have any words of wisdom or experiences they could share.

It's a while since I last did this but one important thing that I encountered was the necessity to notify U.S. Customs several days before presenting the car at the border. They require(d) several days notice in order that they can check to ensure that the car has not been reported stolen in the U.S.

Ahh yes, the dreaded 72hour rule from US Customs. I am aware of it and hopefully the coordination of the Customs Broker and the Carrier will pay off smiling smiley

Yes your Broker will arrange a time and border location which works for you..
Just make sure you have "ALL" the paper work and forms and "MAKE" sure your at the border at the presaid time...
The Border person will inspect for the vehicle vin and go through the paper work, if its all good
Pay the taxes and your OFF

I just imported my 67 BJ8 from the states 3 months ago. I used TFX International. They took care of everything and they did a great job. It was a very smooth operation. I gave them the pick up address and the "return address", filled up all the paper work and that was it! I was working in Calgary at the time and didn't have time to deal with the importation. The car was delivered in Ontario to my Healy specialist. The seller and mechanic took pictures when the car was pick up and delivered and they both mentioned the professionalism from TFX. Now you only have to deal with your provincial inspection, appraisal and insurance to get the car plated. I can't wait to get the car out....2 more months and winter should be over!
