Being a mechanical engineer, he improved the car with a secondary cold air vent directly into the passenger toebox, a permanent CHMSL, and delightfully comfortable velour upholstery.
The comfort and safety modifications make her a Condition 2 car. During the 2017 show season, she participated in 2 British Car Days, 1 AHCA regional event&show, and the 2017 Dayton Concours d'Elegance Sports Cars to 1963 class. She took 2nd in Class (3000) at the NEOAHC 40th Annual British Swap Meet & Car Show.
More of the story can be read in the May 2012 edition of AHCA's Healey Marque, or at http://bigorangehealey.com
My parents had planned to crisscross North America with her, as much as time, budget, and health would allow, but my father had a catastrophic stoke while she was at the paint shop. The Healeying retirement plans never came to be, as he was fully right-side paralyzed and speechless for the last 7.5 years of his life.
My father unfortunately died in October 2017, and because Healeys can get sit-sick, my mother wants to sell Big Orange to get her back out on the road racking up the miles where she is meant to be. Maintenance and exercise are currently done by myself and Sports Car Preservation LTD.
