Spridgeteers,

Finally am getting the Midget back together and have a couple of
questions for ya'll.

1) Once I installed the new back plate, resurfaced flywheel and new
clutch, I put three bolts back to pull the tranny up and then went to
test to make sure the clutch is working. I can't move the pressure
plate spring with hand pressure on the yoke. How hard should this be?
I didn't want to force anything, but I do want to be sure that the
damned thing works before I put it all back in. How much force should
it take to depress the pressure plate spring?

2) tranny pilot shaft splines... Grease them?? If so what kinda
grease and how much?

3) Who's coming over to Dodge City this weekend to help me put the
lump back in? Where's the OSHIT or SOS High Plains chapters when you
need them? ;-)

Hi Jim, IMHO the answers are: 1) It takes way more than your arm can
supply unless you're Son of King Kong on steroids. 2) There'll be plenty
enough oily stuff that naturally oozes from the front cover seal out
onto the 1st motion shaft. 3) I dunno, bring your parts south to
Arkansas and I'll pitch in. Good luck!!
