Looking for some help to identify these side screens that came with my 1954 100-4, purchased three years ago. The bottom quarter opens out. One of them needs a repair and not sure whether to bother, or whether to replace with 'correct' period screens. Thanks in advance!

Shaun,
I think they look good as well. I am shocked by how expensive these are and would repair them if I were in your shoes. If you are going to get a new set I'd be interested in buying them off you, or trading a standard set of frames in need of recovering?

You make a great point Steve. I think I'll go with my gut (and your advice) and get them patched up. It'll be interesting to see how practical they are. Not that I ever choose to drive the car in the rain, but it is a fact of life in this country from time to time.
about 1 week and 1 day later...

Another side screen identification mystery.
These were supplied with my BN2 when purchased in 2004. I have never fitted them and have a after market set of correct BN2 type side screens when needed.
I have looked in all my reference books to see if this type were fitted to a 100 but no luck as yet.
They are very well made with black painted steel frame all the way around and a rubber trim attached to this frame. The Perspex is rather discoloured and scratched. The drivers (rh) side screen has an elaborate sliding section bottom right to enable hand signals and opening of door, similar to the flap on the correct BN2 type side screen. The passenger (lh) side screen is a one piece Perspex mounted in the painted steel frame.
Has any one any ideas of who made them.
Could possibly have been supplied with one of the after market hard tops but both Universal and HJ Lovell hard tops had sliding screens.
Hope some one can assist.

My car came to me with a set of side screens--no doubt aftermarket--of a different pattern: black vinyl covered with two pieces of plastic ion the aperture, the rear of which slides forward so you get approximately 50% opening. For anyone who owned an LBC in the 50's and 60's when these cars were first popular there were a number of companies that sold all kinds of aftermarket stuff, some of which was an improvement on the original designs and some of which was butt-ugly.

When I bought my 100 in 1968 I assumed that the sidescreens were original so when the time came to retrim I had identical copies made. I did notice that no other cars that I had seen had the solid flap, without the window,(see attached photo) but put this down to variations in production specification. Then a year or so ago I managed to obtain a photo of my car, taken in 1958. Behind the driver (the second owner) I could see the passenger's sidescreen. It had two elements to the window! So my side screens must have been altered at some time.
