Hi all

I collected a spare engine that I intend to rebuild for my car in a year or two. I brought it home and it is now in the middle of my garage floor with its transmission hanging off the back. I'll pull the gearbox and OD off as a unit and store it vertically in the corner of the garage. I was thinking I could make a frame of wood on casters for storing it and moving it when I need to. I don't want it to sit on its oil pan as I will eventually pound it out and paint it. Before O over-engineer something I wanted to ask what you have done. I'm guessing racers might even have couple rolling around the shop.

Thank you for any ideas and pictures that you can share, Oh - I do have the motor mounts.

Best wishes
Steve

Hi Steve

I built this a few years ago and it worked well.

Thanks Alan, that looks perfect, I'll hit the Home Depot first thing Saturday and be rolling around before the weekend is over!

Steve, here are some shots of the trolly I built for my BT7 engine and Transmission. Pretty simple yet strong enough to holdup for the two years it took me to restore the car.

Hey y'all..... save yourself some time & effort. I own a dozen of these and use them for full race motors, engine blocks and transmissions. Best investment ever.....smileys with beer

Thanks Dougie, I have some of those around heh garage and basement, they are super useful and a good value. I have a smaller shop so will need to push it out of the way with some frequency so will want to bolt it to a frame, Maybe I'll land it on one of those until the frame is ready.

You have created a nice space for yourself there. And i like that oil pan!

Best wishes

No over engineering , no fabrication . Bolt it together ,takes ten minutes and is easy to use . I have one in my shop .Engine sits on the lip of the oil sump/block .

That’s not an oil leak , it’s my patent pending rust proofing system .
