Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can help, I'm looking to hill-climb my sprite and for this I need to get an oil catch can. Most race sprites I've seen have 2 breather pipes on rocker cover, one connected to crankcase breather and the other to the catch can. What is the benefit of having the breathers in the rocker cover as was as crankcase and is it worth buying new rocker cover or just draw a pipe straight from crank case breather to catch can? Thanks,

Which Sprite engine do you have? The race group I run with requires a catch can, but a breather on the rocker arm cover is not allowed. On my 948 I have the pipe on the rocker arm cover and another line from the mechanical fuel pump opening connected to a metal can next to the battery with hoses. Works great and meets the clubs rules. On my 1275 I have three hoses - the canister on the timing chain cover, rocker arm cover, and fuel pump opening all going to a catch can. More breathers is a good thing.
