Drilled my Sebring Sprites knock off hubs and added safety wire.
Also, airbrushed White Tempra paint on one wire wheel just to see if I like the look of White. I then just power washed it off. Next, some dark green to see how that looks. Doing so before I consider having them powder coated. Have the car up on jack stands waiting for new clutch slave cylinder and clutch hydraulic hardline.

Thanks, never thought of that. Mine are in real good shape though and I do keep an eye on them.
Either way if that happens a wheel could fly off and that would be a world of crap!
I have Sprinzel’s “Spritely Years” book and there’s a famous pic of him having a “mechanical derangement “
Where his right rear wire wheel was trying to pass him. Looking at the pic looks like drum brakes and the entire drum & hub came off.

Know a guy that lost a wheel from stripped spines on a twisty mountain road! I have stripped the splines on a front wheel but recognized the problem right away so no damage. It doesn't happen till they are very worn.

Yeah, Kurt. Back in the 70’s I had a Triumph GT6 with worn splines hit the brakes hard one time it was enough to spin the wire wheel.
