Hi Guys, Any tips ideas on fitting new wheel bearings to my 60 year old BE? I have reamed and fitted a new king pin. Plus I have a new OE BMC spacer 88G321. I have been sold by a bearing specialist SKF 7205 BECBP inner and SKF 7303 BECBP outer made in Austria which are said to be face adjusted. I think I have to buff down the stub axle so that the inner bearing slides down. Currently it would require pressing on which I think is a bad idea, The "wide" face on the inner bearing faces the engine side and the "wide" face on the outer bearing faces the outer side. I am fitting polyurethane bushes in the front upper trunnions.

Hi Eric,

I wouldn't use those bearings. If they have to be pressed on they are the wrong size. I also wouldn't remove material from the spindle in an effort to get those bearings to fit.

I've been told by a supplier I trust that the bearings currently being sold by Moss USA are correct and fit properly. Unfortunately Moss USA is currently shut down because of the virus.

Eric,

I have put 1,500 miles on the bearings supplied by Moss and no complaints yet. I had the car jacks yesterday and both wheels still turn smooth with no noises. I would just go with their kit once they reopen.

Eric,
I agree with Rick on this...they should not need to be pressed on.

The stub axle only needs a light dressing from sand paper for the inner bearing to drop in..

I agree that the bearings should slide on without being pressed. I would be reticent to remove material too. Hope you enjoy the new bearings once completed.
