Tunnel Cover

Restoration of my BJ8 is coming to the final stage - now its time to decide on the gearbox-tunnel cover. Frankly Id like to make it some sort of bare metal look, painted glassfibre though but no carpet on top. Has anyone ever done that before and maybe can provide any images?
