I have recently fitted a Davies Craig Electric Water Pump to my 100/4 and on a trip to France last week queuing at Calais for over 30 minutes the temperature did not rise above 165. It runs at this temperature all the time driving or long stationary periods. I have also fitted an Aluminium Radiator and Electric Fan maintaining a mechanical fan as well. All overheating problems solved. All details available if anyone interested.

Hi Colin,
An interesting option. I have had a look on the Davies Craig website and also on Demon Tweeks website for info. It is difficult to see how the pumps are sized to the engine, it would seem they are based on the cc capacity of the engine, which model do you have fitted to your Healey
The pumps look a little bulky, could you show a couple of photos to show the location and connection configuration. If you are still using the mechanical fan fitted to the original mechanical water pump pulley is the impeller of the water pump removed
Cheers,
Eric

Hi Eric, Jon,
Davies Craig have an excellent website detailing all.The size of pump is determined by engine capacity so for a 100/4 or 3000 you need a EWP115 available in Nylon of Aluminium. I chose the latter. I also purchased the EWP combo pack which is a processor that controls the electric fan operation and duration of the pump run on and fan cut off after engine shut down. You need to remove the impeller blades on the water pump just keeping the shaft so the water pump pulley can still operate. I mounted the pump on the inner wheel arch bracket that holds my Cold Air Box. A bracket to hold the pump its supplied in the kit along with all hose adaptors etc. They claim as the pump is so light it is self supporting but I wanted firm support.See on one for details. I will attach some photos next time I go to my car store unit.
Best, Colin.

This is very interesting , as I fitted a DC water pump on my 100 and after blowing hoses off several times and the 3 core plugs , I removed it !
Although I found it had a good cooling effect it seemed to over pressurise the whole cooling system .
I got the idea from a friends 100 S that was fitted with one , which was controlled by the thermostatic sensor switch and has not caused any trouble .
I just fitted a manual switch through the ignition switch .
I removed the original pump and made a blanking plate to take the bottom hose .
Can you post pictures of your set up ?
I have now gone back to the standard pump + Texas cooler , 14" pusher fan and thermostat restrictor plate and she runs cool in a hot climate .
