This might be an unusual question: what makes all four indicators flash at once when I indicate to turn right. Indicating left just flashes the two left hand indicators.
This has just happened after I changed the bulbs (including indicator bulbs) for led ones, and at the same time changed the flasher unit for one to match the smaller current draw of the new bulbs.
Any ideas please?
Thanks guys

You may need to add ballasts, one per side.

Roger,
I did have the same problem and asked the AH4H to help me, see the answer below.
“On the BJ8 you may get a bleed with the tell tales on the dashboard which can make them glow. The reason the bleed happens is that the power comes to the warning lights from the P tab on the flasher and also in the reverse direction from the left and right indicator circuits themselves via the turn signal switch. This is only a small amount of current and not enough to light a filament bulb but is enough to just light an LED if you have them fitted on your dashboard. We also do wonder why AH ever came up with this arrangement as it is not needed.
The cure is quite simple - remove the Light Green and Purple wire from the P tab on the flasher unit and take it to a good earth. The warning lights are then driven individually by the left and right indicator circuits and controlled by the turn signal switch. Therefore there is no risk of bleed as the opposite warning light receives no current at all. In some instances this reverses the left and right tell tales. If this happens, the customer will need to swap over the tell tale lamp holders.”
Hope this will help you, for me the problem was solved and indeed i had to switch the tell tale lamps.

Many thanks everyone. Seems I need to do a bit more digging and trial and error to chase the problem through a little bit.
Peter's suggestion is a last resort solution!
I would just prefer to have lights and indicators that are more visible - which the led bulbs provide.

Roger,
You may be interested in the Third Brake Light I designed.
It's more integrated into the design of the car but much more visible and it
pulsates for the first 5 seconds when the pedal is applied.
The LED's are also 5 times brighter then conventional bulbs but don't need any special wiring.
Good luck,
Peter C.

Peter,
Love that idea. might have to copy that, looking at going led anyway , at least for stop/tail and indicators, already using a solid state flesher unit, itv stays at correct rate no matter what the load. Also have pilot bulbs in my headlamps, so they'll be high power led as well, then they'll be used as daylight running lights, becoming a bit of a necessity with our traffic now.

I contacted Ray for the vendor and model number, which he have to me. It’s a flashing light before it goes solid. A good feature. I made mine removable by gluing magnetic strips to the bottom of the light unit. Thee light is attached to a block that is actually a small piece of oak, shaped and painted same color as the car. Whirring is too simple. One wire to the brake light wire just before the light itself. The other to ground.
