Hi Guys,
Not sure how you all feel about the location of the rear view mirror but it always seemed a little low for me and
it blocked my view to the right front corner of the car.
I came up with this modification so I could see better out the back and over the right front.
The height extension that is available wasn't good enough for me.
Bouna fortuna,
Peter C.

I'm interested in the tall stem or tall mirror from AHspares. (pictures)
If anyone has pictures of either as installed, would like to see.

The convertibles really need the mirror to be relocated to be able to see over the lowered top.I used the base and windshield mount and rod from an MGB and a day-night mirror from an E-Type (repro, it was pretty inexpensive). I did this because I didn't like the way the rear view mirror sat with the convertible top up. I did have to drill the windshield frame and pop rivet the top mount on and the mirror mount had to be shimmed as the rod wasn't thick enough. The mirror does not slide up and down, but I find the day-night feature is more of a benefit than the ability to adjust vertically.

Best shot I have as it’s now hidden behind my rally stop watches. It would be able to go taller but based on my seat position height etc the top left corner of the mirror is touching the windshield .
I works good for me and I can see all of the rear view even with my hardtop on .
That’s not an oil leak , it’s my patent pending rust proofing system .

Tall stem from AHS
I heated it then racked it back a little from the windscreen

I ordered the adjustable one from Spares. That taller stem is over $50+shipping and if it has to be bent that's a non-starter.
Let me elaborate a little more.
The stem does not have to be bent.
The longer the stem the closer it gets to the glass being the glass is angled.
I wanted a little more distance from the mirror to the glass for my hands to clean the glass.
Straight stem 2" from glass, angled stem 4" from glass.
Once you raise the adjustable stem to the hight of the non adjustable, you'll see what I mean.
For people who are looking for a taller stem that looks as close to the Healey's original design, this is it, no adjustable collar,

As I mentioned, I angled the stem a bit
https://www.ahspares.co.uk/austin-healey/performance-parts/miscellaneous-2/mirror-stem-lengthened.aspx
The adjustable stem is straight up also. The photo shows it tilted but look at the base, it's angle in the photo. Once screwed on the dash it will be just like the non adjustable straight up.

It can be angled like I did too, if one wants it further from the glass.
Note, I have a BJ8, so the windscreen may have a different angle then the other models.
Maybe Healey Nut will chime in. Looks like he has the adjustable.
