Restoration Complete But Work To Continue.

So, the car is finally built. The interior is now done. The engine bay is complete and dressed. But of course, there’s always more to do before road testing can begin. I need to recheck the end float on the front wheel bearings as the wheels appear a teensy bit loose. I re-bled the clutch and then come the rest of the fluids and final checks. No convertible top or frame fitted for now and that may be something I’ll put off for some time. I don’t intend to drive the car in the rain but it will happen at some point. As is common with the rubber seals, the doors and the boot lid don’t fit as well as they should so I’ll need to address that, too. The seals these days are just awful fitting - even the supposedly good ones with smallish bulbs. Still, I’m pretty pleased with the car.

Some More Recent Progress This Winter 2023/24

Been busy with installing and checking the electrical. Added relays on the headlamps and driving lights. Installed the drivetrain and exhaust system and rear Bugeye bumperettes. Dash is in along with Moto-Lita steering wheel. Next up is finishing under the bonnet and then interior.

Brakes And Rear End Done

After the front suspension was back on I turned to the brakes and then concentrated on everything at the rear of the car. Complete now are fuel tank, fuel lines and pump, rear wiring and lighting. Fuel cap needed a new seal so I just stole a rubber one from a new locking cap and used weatherstrip adhesive to glue in place.

The spare wheel still has the original Dunlop C-41 bias ply tire on it. Still holds air after 56 years.

Home From Paint And Building Progress

I was lucky enough to find a local guy in Grass Valley, CA to paint my car over last summer. The car left in June and returned in September. Now the building can commence.

Front Brakes Completed

Front brakes are now done. These are built on Spridget Mania competition billet spindles with Timken roller bearings. EBC pads and dba slotted rotors complete the set up.

More Progress - Dash Restored

The Dash is now restored. Gauges were rebuilt by Nisonger out of Mamaroneck, NY, including converting the tach to negative ground and converting for use with electronic ignition (Pertronix).
